This is a wooden torii - a gate to a shinto shrine.

This is a photograph of a stone torii that was broken in half by the bomb blast in 1945. The photo was taken a few days after it happened.

This is what the torii looks like today. The "One-Legged Torii" is a silent symbol of the horror of that day.

Folded paper cranes are left on the remains as a symbol of peace.
