You are a life-saver! I am trying to plan a unit on Japan.
I have searched the web trying to find some sites that are easy to follow,
clear, and very straight forward. I will only be able to spend about a
week on Japanese culture with my 2nd graders. I love your site! Thank
you for putting forth the effort that I'm sure it took. I'm still looking
for just the right art activities. I want my boys to make carp kites,
and am looking for just the right art activity for my girls. Any ideas?
Again, I just wanted you to know that a teacher out here in cyberspace
appreciates you!!!

Dear John
I am a teacher of IT at xxx, just North of Hobart, in Tasmania, Australia.
We were very excited when we discovered your web site that you created
due to your trip to Japan on a Fullbright Fellowship. We have two classes
at school at the moment studying Japan and have found your web site very
informative for students in grade 2-3. Congratulations!! We have looked
at your site and discussed the things that are the same, then the things
that are different at our school. I found that the text and the pictures
were just terrific for students at a grade 2-3 level.
We have now built a WebQuest around your site looking at the issue of
students cleaning the school on a daily basis. We are looking at the positive
and negative aspects of this issue. We are launching our WebQuest to the
class tomorrow. Some of their tasks are to obtain other people's thoughts
on this issue. Others include our school principal, students, teachers,
parents and our school cleaners. It will be interesting to see what the
students come up with.
Congratulations for a great site,
Margaret

I have found your pictures very useful. In kindergarten,
we are traveling to different countries. Our classroom will represent
Japan. We will study Japan and its culture and turn our living center
into a Japanese house.
I am using your pictures and text to create a scrapbook to highlight a
day in the life a Japanese child. I especially think the children will
enjoy the shots of their classroom, lunch time and clean up. The children
can also read the simple text.
Thank you for your advance work.

I would like to thank you for the wonderful pictures of Japan. My
child is studying this culture in school currently, and we looked all
over for a picture of a kimono. We did not expect to find one under your
listing, but there it was!! We were so happy - we ended up printing
out all of your pictures for her to bring to school and share with the
class!
Thanks again!!
Hello, my name is Gus, and I am 8yrs,. old. My teacher has assigned my

Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed exploring your site.
I am a student teacher in a second grade classroom in Georgia. The
students will be learning about Japan in the next couple of weeks...I
think your site is very interesting and on just the right level for young
students. I particularly enjoyed the part on your site about
"Peace"...About three years ago I hosted a couple of Japanese
exchange students over the Christmas holidays. These girls and their friends
were always flashing the peace sign and I wondered why (the language barrier
prevented me from being able to find out). I really enjoyed
your explanantion

>I'm interested in knowing how your project went. Was my site helpful?
Yes, very much so. We were showing how to use the software Inspiration
to link to the web and also how students can organize the information
from the web using Inspiration. Your site has such wonderful pictures
and easy-to-read text that it was a real bonus. Thanks again for letting
us share your site.
>I'm interested in knowing how your project went. Was
my site helpful?
Yes, Your site WAS helpful, very, and just to let you know i got an A-
on it and i'm really proud!Thank You!
>I'm interested in knowing how your project went. Was
my site helpful?
I am happy to tell you that our center was awesome! We received
a 100% on the project. We used your site to design a center that
would have the students look at the pictures, answer some questions and
compare their lives in school to the lives of students in Japan.
Thank you for your help.
>I'm interested in knowing how your project went. Was my site helpful?
hi John Yes we found your site to be great for grade 2/3 students. Because
students at this age are still developing the ability to read at great
lengths to gain information, your simple text and pictures gave a lot
of information. The approach that we took when accessing your web site
was to find similiar things in Japan and here. The students found TVs,
etc but it was a way of actually also finding the things that were different.
we had some visiting Japanese students at our school during that year
and so on their return to japan our students were able to email them and
ask them whether they had to clean their school. And yes they did! The
students were divided into groups and researched what people thought of
having students clean our school. People that the students questioned
included other students, teachers, parents, cleaners and our principal.
The response from our cleaner was that he may be out of a job if that
happened. The students displayed their findings at our weekly assembly.
It is a great site and I congratulate you again.

Halo John,
I am from Secunda, Mpumalanga in South Africa.
We are busy with a geography project on Japan. I visited your website
and enjoyed the pictures. I will be able to use a lot of them in my project.
I just need some more information which I somehow missed in the sites
I have visited. I hop that you can help me with it please.
1. Are there difirent languages in Japan ? If so, which is the one most
commonly used ? 2. What is the weather like ? How does it affect the people
of Japan's every day life ? 3. What do the people of Japan do for a living
? The different industries, etc. Do you have some pictures of that ? 4.
What would you say is the most important aspect of Japan - that is for
their own people as well as for the whole worl.
This is quite a mouth full as we would say here in Afrikaans in South
Africa. Thank you for this opportunity to speak to you on the other side
of the world. It is quite an experience. I hope that you can answer some
of my questions soon. I am a grade 6 people of xxx. I am eleven years
old.
>I'm interested in knowing how your project went. Was
my site helpful?
My project was a real success, thanks for asking. The children really
loved it and we all learned a lot about Japan. I also have a child in
my classroom from Japan, so she and her family were able to add a lot
to the project. I shared many of the photographs from your website with
the children and they loved them. They especially enjoyed the pictures
of the children at school. Thanks again for all the information.
Hi, I think your website is easy to get pictures.
Your text is actually readable.
cool job,

I think that your website on Japan is great. I am doing
