In 1945, the United States and Japan were at war. The two countries were enemies in World War II. In August of that year two huge bombs were dropped on Japan by the Americans. One bomb was dropped above Hiroshima and a few days later another one was dropped above Nagasaki. Hundreds of Thousands of people were killed or injured. The war ended soon after.
Nagasaki is the last place that an Atomic Bomb has been used as a weapon of war. Many people are working to make that an everlasting truth.
